Education of the girl child is a burning issue in our country. So many girls do not receive basic education. To boot, rarely would 'educated' be considered an attribute to describe the girl even if she is well-qualified or has performed well as a student. "Education" would just be an accessory attached to a girl. 

Take for instance, simple conversations that take place when alliances are being discussed among families, relatives and friends. They are telling. To the question "Ladka kaisa hai?" typical answer is "Padha-Likha, smart, handsome and tall..." even if know one really know how much ‘padha-likha’ the guy is or what grade he holds in his engineering degree. In contrast, the answer to the question “Ladki kaisi hai?" typically would be "Sundar, susheel, gori-cheeti....ladke ko bohot khush rakhegi..."
